BEIRUT — An Israeli airstrike targeted a building in the Jamous area of Dahieh, Beirut’s southern suburbs, killing five people, according to the National News Agency.

Local TV channel MTV reported that ten others were injured, with footage from the scene showing severe damage to buildings and chaos in the densely populated neighborhood.

MTV reported that the airstrike targeted Ibrahim Akil, a member of the Jihad Council of Hezbollah, a claim corroborated by Israeli army radio citing security officials. It is not clear at the moment if Akil was killed.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the attack in a statement released on Friday, adding that “there are no changes in the Home Front Command defensive guidelines.”
