ANKARA — Turkish police detained 88 suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) group, the country’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Friday.

The suspects were detained in 23 provinces during operations dubbed “GURZ-15,” which were carried out over the past five days, Yerlikaya stated on the social media platform X.

The minister also shared a video of the raids in which the suspects were apprehended.

The Turkish government designated IS as a terrorist organization in 2013, blaming it for a spate of deadly attacks in the country since 2015, including the January attack on a Roman Catholic church in Istanbul that killed one person.
